Teeth in a Day – Too Good to be True?

Maybe you’ve seen or heard commercials or other advertisements promising an entire new set of teeth in a single day. You probably have known people who have had dental work done that took many visits and a lot of time in the dentist’s chair over many months. Teeth in a Day sounds almost too good to be true. So… is it?

Believe it or not, Teeth in a Day is not a myth. This revolutionary new concept provides patients with fully functioning teeth on dental implants in a single dental procedure that yes, can be completed in a single day. This merging of knowledge and experience achieves not only increased safety, but also a more precise implant placement. In addition, the fabrication of a fixed dental prosthesis is completed prior to the surgery. The computer-guided implant surgery is done in a minimally invasive manner. This benefits the patient in that there is less postoperative discomfort, less swelling, and less bruising.

The process begins when a CBCT scan (or a 3D X-ray) is taken of the patient’s jaw bone. This CBCT scan allows for the generation of a three-dimensional model of the jaw bone that can then be used with virtual reality software to plan the implant placement without the presence of the patient. The results are a more accurate implant placement and less chair time for the patient. The dental implants our patients will receive during this procedure are permanent and typically made from titanium. Over time it will fully fuse to the jawbone.

At HM Oral Surgery, this procedure is one of our specialties and our patients love it due to the convenience of spending significantly less time with us (we’re great but we know you don’t want to see us very often!) and the reduced recovery time involved. One of our patients recently said the following: “For years I’d felt like a part of my body was missing — because my teeth were. Dr. Mahgoub told me that dental implants would make me feel and look a lot better. OK, I said. Now, I’m thrilled. I can smile, eat anything, and enjoy a good laugh with my friends.”
